Nurse sharks and Caribbean reef sharks are not aggressive toward divers. At Shark Point, encounters happen in the sharks' natural environment. Our divemasters have guided hundreds of shark dives at this site without incident. Proper certification and composure underwater are required, which is why we enforce experience requirements before booking.
No. Shark Point has an excellent safety record. The sharks at this site are accustomed to divers and behave predictably. Our divemasters brief every group before the dive, establish clear protocols, and lead the descent throughout the experience.
Advanced Open Water certification is the standard requirement because the dive reaches approximately 26 meters (80 feet). However, if you are Open Water certified with a minimum of 20 logged dives and comfortable at depth, we can accommodate you on a case-by-case basis.
You may still qualify. We assess experience individually. If you have 20 or more logged dives and feel confident at depth, contact us via WhatsApp and we will confirm whether the shark dive is right for you. Please bring your logbook on the day of the dive.
Shark Point reaches approximately 26 meters (80 feet). This is a reef dive site located 15 to 20 minutes from shore by boat.
Open water only. There are no cages at Shark Point. You dive freely alongside your divemaster on a natural reef, encountering nurse sharks and Caribbean reef sharks in their natural habitat.
All diving equipment is provided including BCD, regulator, wetsuit, tank, and weights. Bring your certification card (C-card), logbook, swimsuit, reef-safe sunscreen, a towel, and cash for the remaining balance. Hotel transport is included from Punta Cana and Bávaro.
