Our PADI Scuba Diver Course is the ideal way to begin your underwater journey. This 2-day beginner program combines dive theory with real-world training, ending with two unforgettable open water dives in the Caribbean Sea. After completion, you’ll be certified to dive up to 12 meters / 40 feet under the supervision of a PADI professional anywhere in the world.
The Scuba Diver course is an official subset of the PADI Open Water Diver course — the same theory, the same skills, the same instructors, in a shorter format. Three sessions of about two and a half hours each, spread over two days, and you walk away a certified diver. That makes it a perfect fit for a Punta Cana vacation: real training and a real certification without giving up half your trip.
No experience is needed. The minimum age is 10, basic swimming ability is the only requirement, and all equipment is included in the $399 course price.
Learn the Theory with PADI eLearning
With PADI eLearning, you can complete your dive theory online before you even arrive in Punta Cana. Study on your Apple or Android device from home, the airport, or even the beach. This flexibility means you’ll spend more time in the water and less time in a classroom during your vacation.
The eLearning covers the essentials of how diving works: how pressure affects your body, how your equipment functions, and how divers plan safe dives. Work through it at your own pace and arrive with the theory already done.
Whichever way you study, your instructor reviews everything with you in person before you get in the water — in English, Spanish, or French.
Confined Water Training
Your first day begins with a theory review and equipment introduction from your PADI Instructor. Then, you’ll head to the pool for confined water training in small groups, ensuring personalized attention. These sessions are designed to make you feel 100% confident and comfortable before heading into open water.
The pool is where diving stops being an idea and becomes a physical skill. You’ll assemble your equipment, take your first breaths underwater, and repeat each exercise until it feels natural. Nothing is rushed: you move on when you’re ready, not when the clock says so.
Master Essential Diving Skills
In the pool, you’ll learn key scuba skills, including buoyancy control, safe breathing techniques, underwater communication, and basic problem-solving. Our friendly instructors take the time to ensure you are prepared for any situation, while keeping the experience fun and exciting.
Because Scuba Diver is an official subset of the Open Water course, every skill you master here counts. Nothing is watered down, and nothing needs to be repeated if you decide to upgrade later. By the end of the pool sessions, breathing underwater feels less like a trick and more like second nature.
Open Water Dives in the Caribbean
The highlight of the course — two open water dives in Punta Cana’s turquoise waters. You’ll demonstrate your skills while exploring vibrant coral reefs and encountering tropical marine life. Skills are spread across both dives, so you’ll have plenty of time to simply enjoy the underwater beauty.
Your certification dives take place on Punta Cana’s gentle beginner reefs — sites like El Niño, Park Reef, Finger Coral Plantation, and the Submarine — to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet). With water at 26–29°C (78–84°F) year-round and visibility that typically runs 15 to 25 meters, your first ocean dives happen in some of the most forgiving conditions in the Caribbean.
