Anchor

The Anchor is a reef located at a depth ranging from 14 to 19 meters (62 feet). This is the spot where the sailors of the Monica dropped anchor after realizing they were too close to the "Dog Coast" — but by then, it was too late to avoid running aground. Today, divers can still see the anchor chain from the Monica resting on the reef, draped across the coral like a trail leading back through history. The original anchor, however, was later recovered from the water by local residents. The reef itself is healthy and busy with tropical fish, and the moderate depth gives the site a different character from our shallower spots — a great step up for Open Water divers gaining experience, and a natural companion dive to the Monica wreck itself.
